At FHI 360, research drives action.
We tackle challenges by generating evidence that drives policies and programs — delivering impact at a local, national and regional scale. We pursue questions with the potential to spark real, lasting change: What builds strong economies? Why do patients stop taking medication? What are the long-term economic benefits of education programs? How can we stop infectious disease outbreaks before they begin?
Our research teams partner with governments, foundations, academic institutions, the private sector and communities to measure impact: influencing approaches and policies, applying market research to understand people’s needs and preferences, and testing and adapting solutions. From the outset, we engage our key audiences to ensure that evidence can be used to meet their needs. We evaluate what works, predict emerging challenges, and accelerate strategic investments.
Data helps decisionmakers make smarter choices that save time, money and lives. Generating and making sense of data through research is at the heart of what we do.
Implementation research
Why do some programs scale smoothly while others struggle? What conditions are necessary for a program to succeed? FHI 360’s implementation researchers seek to understand what works — and what doesn’t — building the evidence base to strengthen current and future efforts.
Market research
We work with key audiences such as patients, health care providers and communities to better understand people’s needs, preferences and behavior, helping our clients and partners create services and products that people want to — and can easily — use.
Program evaluation
Evaluation fuels steady improvement. Through collection, analysis and data use, we measure and document programs’ successes and areas for growth — and help our partners, funders and clients tackle complex challenges, understand value for money, and show and deepen their impact.
Research translation
Research translation begins at a project’s inception and continues throughout the full lifecycle — from agenda setting and evidence generation to synthesis, coproduction of products, dissemination, and adoption. It involves continuously engaging and learning from stakeholders to ensure research outputs are tailored to real-world needs and can be reliably applied at scale.
Secondary analysis and evidence synthesis
Our work to synthesize and summarize evidence informs policy, programs and future research. We offer systematic reviews, meta-analyses, rapid reviews, scoping reviews and landscape analyses. Our data visualization services, such as dynamic dashboards, allow users to understand the trends and lessons behind the numbers.
Effectiveness research
We measure impact and outcomes for programs, products or interventions, using designs that fit the question and setting (for example, clinical trials and experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations). Our experts help governments, partners and clients build capacity, strengthen research services and test products.
